THE WORLD STARTS WITH ME

An e-learning program on HIV/AIDS prevention developed for Uganda and now also implemented in other countries.

The World Starts with Me (WSWM) was developed in Uganda and implemented in Kenya, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand. Butterfly Works was asked to develop a solution for HIV/Aids prevention by the World Population Foundation (WPF). Butterfly Works formed a diverse group of artists, youths, teachers and experts, who together developed the digital curriculum of The World Starts with Me.

WSWM won the Golden Nica in the category Digital Communities at Ars Electronica in 2004. When The World Starts with Me turned out to be a success, the WPF decided to have the curriculum adapted for teenagers in other countries – Kenya, Indonesia and Thailand to begin with.
