CHILDREN’S BOOK SERIES

2007 Kenya, 2009 Morocco

“I live here! Where do you live?” is a series of books aimed at Dutch children from 6-8 years old, made by children from developing countries.

The book shows the normal, everyday activities in the lives of the children who made it. By focusing on everyday activities, Dutch children can identify with children in developing countries. They form a positive association, instead of adopting the popular assumption that people from less fortunate countries need to be helped.

The main character in the book is Saruni, a Masaai boy who lives in the south of Kenya with his family. The drawings and paintings in the book were made by the children of Napolosa elementary school together with a team of three artists.

Our business plan for the series was nominated for the BID Challenge 2005. After intensive research, it was published in 2007 by the House of Books. There are only a few books left, available through Oxfam Novib webshop and Bol.com, amongst others.
