    PAKISTAN

In 2012 Crafting Peace is starting a new collaboration with Pakistani women and crafters. In December 2011 we were invited by an alliance of organisations who run a 'Peace my Right' campaign in Pakistan. The aim of the campaign is to give women a key role as change makers in the peace process. Through Crafting Circles, women will be brought together to learn, share and express their creativity and ideas.

CERAMIC COLLECTION – MADE IN FES

2007 - ongoing, Morocco

A design workshop in Fes where selected designers and craftsmen from Morocco and the Netherlands have exchanged ideas and conducted research.

Original concept: Butterfly Works for DMO
Project partners: Amsterdam Municipality, Fes Municipality

The label Made in Fes is linked to the cultural-economic exchange between both the municipalities of Fes and Amsterdam, along with a number of other active partners. With the help of Amsterdam importers, international designers and Moroccan craftsmen, Butterfly Works developed a collection of Home Accessories for the Dutch 'upper mainstream' market. This label, which stands for cultural exchange, innovation and craftsmanship, flies the flag for durable and unique products each with a story of their own.

Currently we are developing a complete ceramic prototype collection for a Dutch wholesale importer and hopefully we can present the collection in February 2010 at the fair in Paris.

We wanted to initiate and stimulate cultural trade between the big immigrant groups in Amsterdam. One of which are the Moroccans. Butterfly Works was one of the very few parties who had the combined expertise of working in Morocco and coordinating product design. --- Robert Marijnissen, project coordinator for the Amsterdam city council
