MIFFYS NEW FRIEND?

Monday, July 5, 2010

The creative team of - play and learn with miffy - has nine days to come up with a new character.

And not just a character, but also the relevant social surrounding and of course a story. This is not an especially long time, certainly if you think that it took miffy 55 years to mature.
On the first day of the temporary studio, in an old tobacco factory in Caracas, some essential questions arose. Question one: what will character will we create in 9 days?
A Mandril with pimples on his glasses?
A crocodile on socks?
A smiling oil drop?
The other question, how will the team react to each other?

Eric & Fenja:
We started the day with an open mind. Together we look at the result of the two days children’s workshops,
and the stories and drawings they made. Which animals did the children like and which ones frighten them.
What does a house look like? Creating a safe (read understandable) surrounding
such as miffy’s world is of great importance to help children 'open up'. Facilitating their development. The task for the illustrator is to hold back and go back to the essence, that is what Bruna’s drawings are all about. The task of the writers is also to hold back and
to get to the essence, a short story. And that is maybe will be the most difficult thing. Holding back.
