BOOTCAMP @ BUTTERFLYWORKS
Friday, February 25, 2011
Safely arrived in our new spacious studio, we kicked off with a bootcamp.
Bootcamp Assignment:
To design and craft various samples for the design of a canopy with integrated solar (or other off the grid) light, that can be used in the cultural centre of the Taragalte project and in the bivouac “le petite prince” in M’hamid, Marocco.
The concept designs should cover a number of aspects:
1. Should be based on the traditional camel wool canopy should use the
traditional nomad architecture as inspiration for a modern
interpretation
2. Should be based on recycling materials that can be found in abundance in
the M’hamid erea, such as empty sardine cans, plastic bags, plastic
bottles, coca cola cans etc. (real samples available)
3. should have an 'off the grid' power solution to give light
Inspiration:
Structure inspired by nomadic tents
Modular pattern inspiration
