AFGHANISTAN MOBILE LEARNING

2011, 2012, Afghanistan

The objective of the GREAT IDEA project is to develop a distance and mobile learning model which will ensure better access to and increase quality secondary education in 4 districts in Afghanistan for boys and girls within the framework of the vision of the Ministry of Education of Afghanistan

The role of Butterfly Works as a partner in the GREAT IDEA program is to co-design the mobile learning part of the program. We will focus on how we can enhance the distance learning activities with mobile learning to create interactivity in the approach and to better reach the GREAT IDEA objectives. Butterfly Works will ensure that the mobile learning components work seamlessly with the rest of the media offerings in the program, that the necessary equipment is made available and that the users are trained if needed.

Co-creation process:
In order to do this Butterfly Works will use our co-creation method. This means that there will be a process of co-creation including two workshops wherein all stakeholders of the project will come together to brainstorm, choose and work out the best solution(s) together, Butterfly orchestrates this process. The added value of a co-creation workshop are many fold, such as shared understanding of the total process, especially important when combining media and disciplines, ownership of the total program by participants and partners, motivated team work. The co-creation method also ensures that the chosen strategy has been checked form many different vantage points.
The first co-creation workshop will take place in May 2011 and the second in September 2011. In between May and September we will develop a prototype of the chosen mobile learning solutions, which we will then send for feedback to partners and workshop participants. We will also develop the visual design for the program. The workshop in September will be a testing and implementation preparation workshop. In the second workshop we will test the contents and working plans for the mobile learning of the GREAT IDEA program.
