All over the world, schools, parents and society as a whole, are concerned with violence amongst children.

Awareness and empowerment are amongst the aim of Butterfly Works and our partners. Butterfly Works partners with Dutch Landelijke Stichting Tegen Zinloos Geweld (foundation against senseless violence, LSTZG) and the South African organisations Gun Free South Africa (GFSA) and Phapama.

While GFSA had years of experience in the battle against guns, they were looking for some additional expertise in education towards a culture of peace. On the other hand, the Dutch LSTZG needed GFSA’s expertise. Phapama has a very successful approach for training young people in an out of school setting in Alternatives to Violence. In a joint project, Butterfly Works developed the educational tools needed to implement in schools, both in South Africa and in Holland.
