Teacher development in Mali
In Mali, the power to change the quality of teaching lies with the teacher. Teachers are willing and able to improve if only they’d receive the right support in the right format. Together with Oxfam and stakeholders we co-created and tested a suiting concept. We digitised the national teacher training curriculum using video, audio and text fragments. After official training teachers receive the curriculum on their (feature) phones to help prepare their lessons. Official evaluators then observe the teachers in class and can award them with official certificates. Easy, accessible and rewarding. Teachers will start using it in the upcoming months, and next year we will work on an adaptation of the curriculum for secondary school teachers.
